Bayern Munich edged Union Berlin 3–2 today to clinch a spot in the DFB-Pokal quarterfinals, as two own goals and a Harry Kane header sealed a cagey, set-piece–heavy contest.

Match Recap:

  • A corner from Joshua Kimmich deflected in for the first own goal, giving Bayern an early lead.

  • Kane added a second with a header from another Kimmich corner.

  • Union Berlin’s Leopold Querfeld halved the deficit from the spot before halftime, but just before the break, another corner-induced own goal from Union’s Diogo Leite restored Bayern’s cushion.

  • In the second half, Union pressed for a comeback; they got a second penalty — again converted by Querfeld — but couldn’t find a third, as Bayern held on under pressure.

With that result, Bayern march into the quarterfinals — their eyes firmly on adding more silverware this season.
